I've missed being on the water, but I am concerned it may take a year or two for cruising to work out the details of our new normal. To scratch this itch, my wife and I plan a cruise of the California coast this September. Best case, Celebrity knocks it out of the park, and all my concerns are unfounded. Worst case, the ship provides transportation and a hotel room for some of my favorite destinations. If I can find a few more people interested in joining us, then Celebrity offers some great group discounts! Just reply below if you are curious! https://www.celebritycruises.com/itinerary-details/7-night-california-coastal-cruise-from-los-angeles-california?packageID=ML07P019&sDT=2021-09-19&cCD=CO

According to USnews.com, Cabo's best time is from May to June, when the wintertime crowds have gone home, and the summertime storms have yet to hit. My wife and I are planning a 4-5 day escape at one of the all-inclusive resorts there and think it would be fun to do it with 2-3 other couples. The resorts are doing a great job of keeping everyone safe and entertained, but town options may be limited in May. If you are interested in joining us, reply below!

Today American Queen Steamboat Company and Victory Cruise Lines announced vaccination requirements for all guests and crew members - the first I've seen. Their statement... The health and safety of our guests, crew members and partners continues to remain our top priority. Vaccination requirement for both our guests and crew is the most prudent next step to ensure that we are providing the safest cruising experience possible. Our new vaccination requirement, coupled with comprehensive health and safety protocols and risk-free booking policy, will give our loyal guests another added level of assurance to join us as we return to sailing. Key Date July 1, 2021: When the mandatory vaccination requirement will begin.

In response to the new COVID-19 variant circulating around the world, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Friday a host of new quarantine regulations for those entering Canada. Expanding on the country's existing testing requirement, which mandates that travelers test negative for COVID-19 three days before their arrival or return to Canada, travelers will now be required to test again upon arrival at the airport. They will then have to quarantine in an approved hotel for up to three days — at their own expense — while awaiting their test results, the Associated Press reported. Trudeau mentioned that expenses may add up to more than $2,000 CAD, which will cover the PCR test, security, food, and measures to keep hotel employees safe.

Los Cabos Progress Update – Covid-19 Testing Program: (provided by Visit Los Cabos - https://www.visitloscabos.travel/covid-test/) On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, airlines at the Los Cabos International Airport started to require proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from all visitors departing to the USA. Thanks to the support of private and public partners, Los Cabos executed a successful program to 1) ensure availability of “Antigen” tests across all hotels, villas, and timeshares, 2) provide safe and easy access to onsite testing, 3) offer low to no cost on the “Antigen” test and competitive costs on the PCR test, and 4) streamline the communication between state health authorities and medical personnel administering the tests across all lodging facilities. During the first four days of implementation, we’ve had a positive response from visitors, travel partners, and international media and wanted to provide you with some preliminary results to-date: 2,231 travelers tested Confirmed availability of “Antigen” tests across lodging facilities The smooth operation of the mobile COVID-19 testing unit installed at the airport for emergencies Positive testimonials from travelers who found the process safe and easy to follow

Fair Oaks is located between Sacramento and Folsom along the American River and has a wonderfully unique village known for its chickens, old homes, and businesses. Situated close to the American River Bike Trail and U.S. Route 50, the village has one of the best collections of local bars and restaurants in the Sacramento area. The village is also built around a park that hosts free concerts in the summer and shows, comedy, and bands in an open-air amphitheater. While parking can be tricky, it is well worth the effort to enjoy the sight of children chasing the roosters in the park while enjoying a craft beer or fine meal on one of the patios.

If you love to travel, the pandemic has probably made you feel like you have lost a year of your life. Worse, while you are likely more than ready to get back on the road, the question is, what will you find? Fortunately, I'm in the travel business and get regular updates from all the major travel suppliers and travel insiders to help figure out how things have changed. In this event, scheduled for March 6, at 10:00 AM PST, I will share the latest news from the airlines, resorts, and cruises, but this event will mostly be to try and answer your questions. Use the Comment box below to ask your question or share your thoughts about travel in 2021 and beyond!

If you love to travel, chances are some of your best memories are from trips where either you knew someone at your destination or got a recommendation from someone who lived there. When it first started, Airbnb often involved meeting the owner of the place you were staying and learning about the area you were staying in, but recently they have been managed like hotels. Travel sites post reviews, which sometimes help but can't always be trusted. The goal of SavvySr is to create a trusted place where friends can share those special restaurants, beaches, or hiking trails with other friends. Over time, we expect some members may enjoy acting as tour guides to show off their special places to their best friends. This post in the Forum is public, i.e., a place for all to see and post. Great for general information like this post, but not the place where all of us are comfortable sharing our "secrets." That is why SavvySr has "Groups" where members gather to get to know each other and share those special places. Interested? Join SavvySr now and Jon the Travel Connections Group!

The popular travel search tool Kayak recently posted "According to a recent survey, nearly half (48%) of Americans said “taking a trip” was one of the top 3 social activities they’re looking forward to most this year once a vaccine is widely available and things return to normal. The good news is, prices on flights around the US are 17% cheaper now than they were a year ago. But our data shows that’s not going to last long (in fact, we predict prices will jump at least 25% once people start traveling again)." Travel Pulse, another travel site, says "It’s a great time to book a cruise vacation. No, probably not for February or spring break, but maybe for summer, early fall or later." There is no question the travel industry is hurting, so there are some great deals and much more generous change and cancellation policies available right now. It is also true that vaccines hold the promise of bringing Covid under control at some point soon. However, there is still a lot of uncertainty about when it will be safe to travel again, and not all the deals and policy changes are the same. I'm in the travel industry and find it difficult to keep track of the different rules and policies various destinations and providers have implemented. It is the perfect time to book if you want a great deal and handle change well. If you long for a return to the way things used to be and need predictability, waiting a few months is probably a good idea. Always looking for input - what do you think?
